Our Turbocharger Rebuild Procedure

Every turbocharger goes through our detailed remanufacturing protocol:

1. Inspection

A trained technician inspects the turbocharger for cracks, shaft wear, oil contamination, housing damage, and other failures.

2. Disassembly & Cleaning

The turbocharger is fully disassembled. All components are cleaned, media-blasted (when appropriate), and inspected individually to detect hidden wear or damage.

3. Parts Replacement

Any worn, damaged, or out-of-spec components are replaced with high-quality parts manufactured in our own machine shop. Typically replaced parts include:

• Bearings

• Thrust bearings

• Piston rings

• Seals

• Gaskets

• Retaining rings

• Fasteners

4. Reassembly

The turbocharger is reassembled using all new service components. Clearances, torque specs, and OEM tolerances are strictly followed.

5. Precision Balancing

Proper balancing is critical to turbocharger performance. CTI performs:

• Low-speed component balancing

• CHRA rotor group balancing

• High-speed VSR (Vibration Sorting Rig) balancing
  This ensures smooth operation, reduced noise, and extended turbocharger life.

6. Final Testing

Each rebuilt CHRA is tested on our Schenck high-speed VSR machine to confirm proper boost characteristics, airflow, shaft stability, and oil sealing performance.

7. Shipping or Local Delivery

Once your turbocharger passes all quality control checkpoints, it is packaged and shipped, or delivered locally.
